Wellness Approach to Senior Care

Prioritizing Physical, Mental, and Spiritual Wellness

Arya at DeBary weaves wellness into our approach to senior care everyday. Our philosophy is that a person is well when the whole body is well. The wellness approach takes the mind, body, and spirit into account for each individual resident–including caregivers. We offer short-term, respite stays in our community when caregivers need extra support or potential residents want to experience the community first hand.

The pursuit of a balanced and fulfilled life doesn’t end at a certain age, or with the onset of dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. All of our residents are given the space and support they need to age with dignity, feel healthy, and continue to grow and learn. As local members of the surrounding community, we also appreciate the diversity in our community by hiring staff members who are bilingual. At Arya at DeBary, we are committed to meeting your needs every step of the way.

“Wellness is an active, lifelong pursuit toward a balanced and fulfilled life.”

Our Wellness Mission

Arya at DeBary encourages residents to maintain independence and experience optimal health. Our integrative wellness program assists in this goal by using circles of care that include teams of residents, staff, healthcare professionals, and family members. Together, we create a health and wellness environment individualized for each resident. We do this through three pillars of wellbeing: physical, emotional, and nutritional.

Physical Wellbeing

Fostering a healthy body through movement, exercise, and proactive health care

  • Occupational and physical therapy
  • Fitness and exercise
  • Dance and movement
  • Yard games such as croquet
  • Courtyards and walking paths
  • Medication management
  • Vital sign checks
  • 24-hour supervised care for memory care residents

Emotional Wellbeing

Developing a joy-filled mind through positivity, self-acceptance, and stress management

  • Music and sound therapy
  • Aromatic common areas
  • Pet-friendly for residents who can manage their cat or small dog
  • Stress-reducing activities
  • Lush courtyards that reduce anxiety
  • Encouraging fun and laughter
  • Intergenerational activities
  • Community faith-based services
  • Resident council meetings and open communication with administration

Nutritional Wellbeing

Acquiring optimal nutrition based on brain-healthy foods and dietary needs

  • Garden-to-table resident-grown herb garden
  • Guided cooking and baking classes and projects
  • Visually appealing foods
  • Multi-sensory meals
  • Vitamin supplementation
  • Nutrient-dense brain foods
  • Daily menu featuring a variety of options
  • Preparation of physician ordered special diets

Health and Safety

Arya at DeBary partners with a variety of medical professionals and therapists. Our medical partners recognize and respect proven treatment protocols, however, the philosophy of care offers alternative therapies to reduce medications when appropriate. Our nurses are dementia-trained in memory support and available 24 hours, 7 days a week. Additionally, infection control is a top priority. Arya at DeBary will follow all guidelines as advised by the State of Florida and the Center for Disease Control.
